NSW: Shot policeman dies in hospital
Sydney policeman GLENN MCENALLAY, who was shot in the head and chest last week, hasdied in hospital.
Twenty-six-yer-old Senior Constable MCENALLAY had been in a coma since he was shotin his unmarked highway patrol car last Wednesday at Hillsdale, in Sydney's south east.
He was shot once in the head and twice in the chest after following a stolen car throughHillsdale.
His family had been at his bedside in Sydney's Prince of Wales Hospital since the incident.
Three men -- MONTEKIAI TAUFAHEMA, aged 25, JOHN TAUFAHEMA, 24, and 23-year-old SIONEPENISINI -- faced court last week over the shooting.
Assistant Commissioner DICK ADAMS says the brave fight put up by Senior Constable MCENALLAYfor the last six days shows the calibre of the officer, and police hope that his passingdoesn't go unnoticed.
Senior Deputy Commissioner KEN MARONEY says the burial of their colleague next weekwill be an occasion to honour him as a young man true to his oath of office.
